Over the summer (and just before we launched our new website) Steve Barkley recorded his 100th episode of his podcast Steve Barkley Ponders Out Loud at our studio.
For the past 35 years, Steve has served as an educational consultant to school districts, teacher organizations, state departments of education, and colleges and universities nationally and internationally, facilitating the changes necessary for them to reach students and successfully prepare them for the 21st century.
So you might be wondering, how did he get into podcasting? Twelve years ago, Steve committed to writing one blog per week about various topics of interest to his target audience, which happen to be educators. Through sharing his knowledge and experience, Steve quickly gained a strong following. As an incredible speaker, Barkley worked with Nickel City Sounds’ team on turning his ideas into an audio experience for his audience. So in 2017, the Barkley Ponders Out Loud podcast was born. With the help our team at Nickel City Sound and Media, Steve has produced a podcast every week on various topics such as student success skills, teaching strategies, student engagement and more. Since the beginning, Steve’s podcast has been downloaded over 42,000 times. Some of his best (and most downloaded) podcasts are interviews — in fact, he has conducted 47 interviews with authors and other educational gurus. (Fun fact: Steve’s podcast has been listed to by people on 6 continents and 100 countries.)
Steve lives in Switzerland and comes to Buffalo a few times a year to record his podcasts. And there are times that Joe works with Steve to record his podcasts remotely. With our technology, skill in mixing and mastering, this out of recording studio experience results in sound like it was created right in our studio.
If you’ve ever considered starting your own podcast, we hope that Steve’s successful journey into podcasting will help persuade you to get started. If you don’t know where to begin, please contact us. We can help you create a professional sounding podcast that leaves your listeners wanting more!
